DGS 1224TP is part of D Link's next generation Web Smart Gigabit switch series, which blends plug and play simplicity with exceptional performance and reliability for small and medium sized business SMB networking. Housed in a new style rack mount metal case with easy to view front panel diagnostic LEDs, this switch provides extensive security features and the option to connect fiber links with its 4 SFP expansion slots. Each port of this switch has the ability to provide power over the Ethernet cables to devices such as IP phones, wireless Access Points and IP surveillance cameras, provided they comply with the 802.3af specification. The switch provides MAC address filters to screen access to the network. It supports 802.1X port based authentication, allowing the network to be configured with external RADIUS servers. Additional features like the D Link Safeguard Engine protect the switch against traffic flooding caused by virusworm outbreaks. The switch supports 802.1Q VLAN Tagging for traffic segmentation by groups to enhance network security and performance. It also supports 802.1p Priority Queues, enabling administrators to run bandwidth sensitive applications such as streaming multimedia and VoIP on the network.
